Dear Astronomers,

please advertise widely amongst your community and students that the ANU Summer Research Program is now open to applicants.

The ANU Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics Summer Research Scholarships is open to all Australian and New Zealand undergraduate students, and provides an opportunity to work on active research and instrumentation projects under the supervision of an RSAA astronomer or instrument scientist. Students get a first hand experience of research, and will get to work with start of the art simulations, data and instrumentation, as well as tour Australia’s active telescopes. The program will run from Monday, 26 November 2018 to Friday, 25 January 2019, with possible extensions and variations if needed.

A Summer Research Scholarship at RSAA includes full accommodation and board
on the ANU campus, a weekly allowance, and return travel to Canberra. There will be
a lecture series on contemporary topics in astrophysics, and scholars are usually also
given the opportunity to visit the telescopes and facilities at Siding Spring Observatory,
Parkes and Narrabri. The program is open to suitably qualified undergraduate students
in the third or final year of their degrees who are currently enrolled at an Australian or
New Zealand university. Outstanding second-year students may also be considered.
