Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science will again be holding the annual joint Bolton and Student Symposium on Thursday 7th December 2017. The symposium is intended to showcase the excellent science being carried out by astronomers from Australia and further afield, and to promote discussion and collaboration amongst researchers from different institutions and levels of seniority. All members of the astronomical research community are welcome to attend and submit presentations.

This year, the symposium will be held in Sydney NSW, in the lecture theatre at CSIRO's Marsfield site.

We encourage all participants to register as soon as possible, and to submit an abstract for a talk. Registration deadline is the 20th of November (next Monday). You can do this at the event website, located at:

As with last year, we will be adopting a short-talk format: 3 minutes / one slide, plus 2 minutes for questions. You should aim to use this time to interest other attendees in some particular aspect of your work. You could do this by simply describing your current project. But feel free to take a different approach if you'd prefer to: Perhaps you'd rather talk about an idea for a project, a problem that you are facing, an unusual result, or some other interesting detail that has come up in the course of your investigations. We'd like attendees to view the presentations as a means to initiate further stimulating discussions during the break periods (and beyond).

I look forward to seeing many of you in attendance. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes,
Helga
?
