OAO, in a joint venture with the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) and the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD), is currently implementing the *?Astronomy Translation Network? project, a platform **for astronomy education and outreach **to share resources in different languages and connecting translation efforts based on a global network of volunteers.* The main goal of the platform is to identify worthy resources for translation and matching its translation needs with volunteer translators. For further details, you can check the website http://translation.astro4dev.org. The project will now start testing the workflow of translation and review processes, and *we would like to kindly ask for your support to help disseminate the project in your country and identify people who could collaborate with us. *This is a chance for collaborators to suggest materials and see them translated, access a pool of trustworthy recommended resources (dark skies awareness, inclusion, hands-on activities, low-cost, etc.), gain translation them into different languages and develop your translation skills. In a second stage, a certification system will be set, and for those joining us now, this experience will already be considered. Our contact mail for the project is: translation at oao.iau.org If you could reply until 14th July, we would be grateful. At the lunch we will be presenting the Pleiades Award winners with their certificates and hearing from the Gold award winner on their winning ideas. We will also take the opportunity to introduce our new committee members as well as present changes we have made to the Pleiades Award selection criteria for the next round to be held in 2018. We are also organising The Rainbow Astronomy social dinner (for those who identify as LGBTI+, allies are also welcome). We will meet in the foyer at 7pm Tuesday 11th July and walk to The Roti House (Ernst & Young Building, 4/121 Marcus Clarke St, Canberra) where we will share a banquet dinner for $29 per head (to be paid in cash at the venue). Please sign-up at ASA reception for this dinner. We are looking forward to seeing you all there. Committee Meeting in La Serena, on Aug 8-9. Australia has been a limited-term partner with 7 classical nights per year available for allocation on Gemini North and South since 2016. This partnership will cease at the end of 2017. However Australian astronomers can still apply for observing time at both telescopes through Director?s Discretionary Time and the NOAO open sky access. In addition there will be 8 classical nights of guaranteed time available with GeMS/GSAOI next year after the LIEF-funded upgrade to the instrument is completed. I request a feedback from current and future users of the Gemini telescopes on the overall observing experience, and especially on: - the classical mode of observations versus previously available (for Australians) queue scheduling; - comments on the re-vamped Gemini webpage; - the process of application for observing time; - user-friendliness of Observing Tool for Phase II; -post-observing support, including help with data reduction; - and the usefulness of the Data Reduction Forum.
