Dear Colleagues

AST32 is back in operation for the 2017 season. This is a call for observing proposals. AST3-2 is a 50cm telescope located at Dome A, Antarctica. It is equipped with a 5Kx10K camera with 1"/pixel. It reaches 19.5 mag in g-band in an exposure of 2 minutes. Right now it supports only g-band observations.

There are two unique capabilities of AST3-2. First, the AST3 telescope can provide unique continuous time domain data that lasts over months.
Secondly, it employs a frame transfer readout scheme without a mechanical shutter, and allows for high frequency photometry of bright stars at a rate of as high as 1kHz.

The key programs for 2017 are an exoplanet search in the TESS field (PIs: Zhou Jilin and Zhang Hui), and a high cadence transients search program (PIs: Wang Xiaofeng, Wang Lifan, Wu Xuefeng).

Please contact Sayed Ashraf Uddin (saushuvo at gmail.com) at PMO if you are interested in using AST3-2 telescope.

Lifan Wang On behalf of the AST3 collaboration
