[ASA] ASA Education and Public Outreach Chapter Workshop, 17 - 18 Feb 2016

The Education and Public Outreach Chapter (EPOC) of the ASA is pleased to announce that a two-day Education and Public Outreach Workshop will be held at the University of Melbourne on 17 - 18 February 2016.

Registrations are now open. The workshop is free but registration is essential and closes on 1 February. It is open to interested participants from the professional astronomy community, students, educators and science communicators. We hope to be able to provide limited travel support for those lacking institutional support.

The workshop will have a mix of panel sessions, short talks and discussion groups. Participants will be encouraged to help identify key issues in astronomy communication, education and outreach with the intention of establishing working groups to develop ideas arising from the workshop.

Workshop themes are:

  *   Communicating Astronomy: working with Media, Government and the public
  *   Effective engagement with Schools
  *   Tools for outreach

The workshop includes a visit to Melbourne Planetarium on the Wednesday evening followed by an optional conference dinner at a nearby hotel. Pariticpants are also invited to an optional tour of the Victorian Space Science Education Centre on the Friday morning, 20 February.
