Message-ID: We are happy to announce the availability of Data Release 1 (DR1) of the Mopra Galactic Plane CO survey. This covers 10? of the Galactic Plane from l=320? to 330?, b=+/-0.5? (with an extension to b=1? for l=327-330?). The data can be downloaded from www.mopra.org/data DR1 contains fits data cubes for the 12CO, 13CO, C18O and C17O J=1-0 lines, at a resolution of ~0.5 arcmin / 0.1 km/s. The data cubes cover 1? of longitude and are available on a 0.5? spacing. The spectral range is +/- 500 km/s in the case of 12CO, somewhat less for the other isotopologues. Cubes with both the complete spectral range, and also with a smaller range covering just the Galactic emission (-150 km/s < Vlsr < +50 km/s) are available. The data is described further in Braiding et al, 2014, PASA, 32, e020 and also at the project home page, www.phys.unsw.edu.au/mopraco. The next data release, covering ~9 sq. deg in the Carina region, will be available shortly (Rebolledo et al. 2016). ~85 sq. deg. of the Southern Galactic plane has now been surveyed. We aim to release the data for the region between 300?-350? early next year. If you are interested in access to this data before publication please contact us. This new version (also as an attachment) is an opportunity for non-IAU members of the ASA to participate in an important survey about public communication and/or outreach practices. Dear ASA Member, As a professional working in the field of astronomy, we would like to invite you to participate in an important online survey regarding astronomers' public communication and/or outreach practices. This is the first comprehensive study to map the practices of the astronomical community worldwide and your cooperation is essential to its success. The study is done under the auspices of the IAU Division C Commission C2 Communicating Astronomy with the Public Working Group 5 Science Communication Research in Astronomy. Scientists face increasing pressure from research institutions and funding bodies to engage with the public. By understanding the practices and barriers to public communication, we aim to gather evidence that can be used to inform policy in this area. This questionnaire has been designed to collect responses both from professionals who do and do not conduct public communication and/or outreach activities. We would, therefore, appreciate your response even if you do not partake in any public communication activities. The questionnaire will take between 5 and 20 minutes to complete, depending on the nature of your outreach activities. Please be honest in your responses, as all responses will be anonymised. The study is being carried out by the Lisbon University Institute and the London School of Economics and supported by the European Southern Observatory, Leiden Observatory and the International Astronomical Union. As a small-thank you, we will donate mounted images and books from the European Southern Observatory to 10 survey participants picked at random. Please include your email at the end of the questionnaire to take part in the prize draw. We thank you very much for your time and participation.
