ANU AITC Summer Internship Program / Northrop Grumman Global Externship Program

The Australian National University (ANU) Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre (AITC), in partnership with Northrop Grumman and other leaders in the Australian space industry, is pleased to offer some exiting opportunities for undergraduate students studying engineering, science, computer science or mathematics.

The AITC Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate students practical experience, develops professional skills and exposes them to opportunities in the Australian space industry. During their internship students will work with the AITC technical team to complete a defined project related to a current AITC project.

The following projects are offered:
-       Pyrotechnic Shock Test Facility Commissioning
-       Mechanical Shock Test Facility Commissioning
-       Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS) for CubeSats
-       Ground-based Test and Evaluation of Attitude Control 
-       Two positions in Adaptive Optics

In addition to the specified project, all interns will participate in activities that develop their professional skills and expand their understanding of the Australian Space Industry, including:
-       A tour of the AITC and EOS Space Systems with project briefings
-       A practical introduction to Systems Engineering, Project Management and Risk Analysis from SHOAL (formerly Aerospace Concepts)
-       A visit to Nova Systems including a briefing on their activities
-       Video conference briefings with technical experts from Northrop Grumman in Australia and the US
-       A tour of the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex
-       A briefing from the Space Coordination Office on the role of government
-       Production of a final report
-       Public presentation 

These positions are highly competitive and reward students who demonstrate a combination of technical excellence, professionalism and initiative within a team environment. Positions are unpaid.
