Subject: [ASA] IAU Office of Astronomy for Development Call for Proposals
Message-ID: <011B13A4-F896-46BB-B005-6071EC2D7092@csiro.au>
Dear Colleagues
This may be of interest to some of you. I?m a member of the OAD Task Force for Astroonomy for Children and Schools and will be at the HWWS and the ASA Meeting next week so available to discuss the program and proposal submissions with you.
This year you may submit an initial Expression of Interest by 15 July to recieve feedback from the OAD. Full submissions close on 15 September 2015.
IAU Office of Astronomy for Development Call for Proposals
The IAU Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) has issued its 4th annual call for proposals for astronomy-for-development projects. The IAU has earmarked ?110 000 for OAD projects to be selected in 2015 and implemented in 2016. This is an open call for project proposals, with individual project grants ranging from about ?500 to about ?15,000.
The three focus areas of the call are:
1. Astronomy for Universities and Research
2. Astronomy for Children and Schools
3. Astronomy for the Public
This year a new format for the call is being used which will streamline the applications process and allow for greater interaction with the OAD through an optional "Expression of Interest" channel. The OAD looks forward to engaging with potential proposers and helping develop and realise ideas relating to using astronomy to stimulate global sustainable development.

Subject: [ASA] Early Career Researchers Chapter events during the ASA ASM
Message-ID: <559372E3.1010403@unsw.edu.au>
Dear colleagues,
The ASA ECR Chapter would like to advertise two events during next
week's ASA meeting:
- Chapter meeting during lunch on Monday 8 July, 1-2 PM, where we will
discuss plans for the upcoming year
- Speed Meet-a-mentor on Monday 8 July, 5-6 PM, co-hosted with the WiA
Chapter
Everyone attending the ASA meeting is welcome at both of these events.
In addition, we will be collecting anonymous data to investigate the
dynamics of the question and answer sessions after talks, similar to the
conference studies described in http://arxiv.org/abs/1412.4571 and
http://arxiv.org/abs/1403.3091. If you are interested in participating
in the data collection, please email Ivy Wong, ivy.wong at uwa.edu.au.
Cheers,
Sarah Martell
