Dear Colleagues,

CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science is holding its 2014 Radio Astronomy School at the Australia Telescope Compact Array, NSW, Australia from the 29th September to the 3rd of October. This school aims to provide knowledge and hands-on experience of radio astronomy to people new to the field, including PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

The format of the school will be similar to previous CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science radio schools, with a mix of lectures and practical sessions. Material will be presented by both radio astronomers and engineers. No prior experience with radio astronomy is required. The school will cover a diverse range of topics across all areas of radio astronomy, with a focus on interferometric observations.

Registration is open and positions are filling fast. Numbers are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee will be $250 for students (and $300 for non-students) and will cover lunches and teas/coffees. Also included are two evening meals. Participants will be encouraged to present posters highlighting their research.

We are also organising a Friday afternoon excursion to Sawn Rocks, situated in the Mount Kaputar National Park. A bus will depart shortly after the conclusion of the school (~2pm) and return participants to the town in the late afternoon/early evening.

For more information, please see the school webpage: http://www.atnf.csiro.au/research/radio-school/2014/index.html

Regards,

Shari

On behalf of the organising committee
