Dear colleagues,

The program for the upcoming ALMA workshop is now available (see the attachment). If you'd like to get an update on ALMA activities and see some of the exciting science already coming from ALMA, please come along.

Day 1 will begin with an update on ALMA activities and planned capabilities for cycle 2. The afternoon will focus on science results coming from recent ALMA projects: we are fortunate to have 7 science talks that will showcase ALMA data. Day 2 will be dedicated to hands-on tutorials demonstrating the ALMA Observing Tool, Simulators, and CASA data reduction.

Registration: Please send an email to Jill.Rathborne at csiro.au if you'd like to attend. Registration is free but important for catering purposes. Deadline for registration is *today*.

Dietary requirements: Please also indicate if you have any dietary requirements, allergies etc.

Dinner: We are planning a dinner at AJ's Indian Restaurant for Wednesday evening. We'll have a sign up sheet on Wednesday morning for those that are interested.

Video/telecon facilities will be available. Please let me know if you'd like to make use of these facilities and I'll forward you the relevant information.

Thanks,
Jill Rathborne (on behalf of the SOC)

> In preparation for the upcoming ALMA call for Cycle 2 proposals we are planning a 2-day ALMA workshop for the Australian community. The workshop will include presentations from ALMA staff related to ALMA's Cycle 2 capabilities and proposal preparation, as well as hands-on tutorials demonstrating the ALMA Observing Tool and the Simulators. The talks and tutorials are aimed to enable novice and advanced users alike to create observing projects making full use of the unique capabilities of ALMA in Cycle 2. Our aim is to also include a series of science talks that highlight both early science results from ALMA and future science projects.
