Distinguished astrophysicist Professor Warrick Couch has been appointed as Director of the Australian Astronomical Observatory (AAO).

Australian astronomer Professor Ken Freeman has been awarded the American Astronomical Society's top prize - the Henry Norris Russell Lectureship
