All ASA members will shortly receive the Annual Subscription Notice for their ASA membership. Your prompt payment is appreciated - and will attract the usual discount!

One feature of this notice each year is the opportunity to make a donation to the ASA's tax-deductible Foundation, the FAA. A notice describing the FAA and the activities it supports is attached. Please read it and consider if you can help the ASA sustain these activities.

In addition, we have all heard about the fires around the Siding Spring Observatory and Mopra telescope. Although the telescopes have survived, it is likely that several ASA members and friends (including observatory staff and well-known amateur astronomers) have lost property in the fires. The ASA Council is considering how best it may help them. When we know more we will let you know.

John
