A reminder that applications for the AusGO Research Fellowships close at
11:30pm AEDT on Friday 30 November 2012, and that it is the applicant's
responsibility to ensure that letters of reference reach the AAO before
then.
Please note that the AAO is prepared to consider co-hosting arrangements for
one of the Fellows with another Australian institution, in exchange for a
funding contribution towards the Fellow's costs. Interested applicants and a
representative from their potential host institution should contact Stuart
Ryder in advance of the deadline for further information.

The Australian Gemini Office within the Australian Astronomical Observatory
is currently advertising for two AusGO Research Fellows. These appointments
are available from 1 Jan 2013 - 31 Dec 2015. The AusGO Research Fellows will
spend 50% of their time on AusGO activities including supporting Australian
users of the Gemini 8m and Magellan 6.5m telescopes, and 50% on their research.

The Observatory comprises the 3.9-metre Anglo-Australian Telescope
and the 1.2-metre UK Schmidt Telescope near Coonabarabran, NSW, and a
brand new headquarters in North Ryde, just 15 km from the centre of Sydney.
The AAO is a vibrant and diverse centre of research, with a scientific
staff of 18 highly active and productive astronomers, as well as hosting
the Australian Gemini Office. Regular interaction with universities,
and a twice-yearly Vacation Student program for undergraduates, also
provides excellent student supervision opportunities.
