Research Scholarships

 

The Discipline of Biomedical Science Research Scholarship (DBSRS)

(Please note this is an amended advertisement.  This scholarship was
originally advertised on 12 June as a completion scholarship with a
tenure of 6 months.)

For suitably qualified and currently enrolled postgraduate students
(local or international) who have demonstrated excellent progress in
their research degree and who would be aided by financial assistance to
accelerate the completion of their candidature; $20,000 pa; 1 year with
a possible 6 month extension; applicants must have satisfactorily
completed at least 1 year full time equivalent (FTE) of their Masters or
PhD research project and must not have completed more than 2.5 FTE years
at the start of Semester 2, 2007.

Postgraduate Scholarships in Influenza Research

For PhD research; available to advance proteomics surveillance of the
influenza virus and anti-viral drug screening; open to Australian
citizens and permanent residents; candidates should hold a H1 or high 2A
degree (or equivalent); stipend is equivalent to APA level ($19,616 pa
in 2007); up to 3 years.

Rebecca L Cooper Medical Research Foundation PhD Scholarship 2008

To commence in 2008; available to young science and medical graduates;
for study in the medical applications of Genetic Research; the
scholarship will be granted for 1 year and may be renewed for 3 years;
applicants should be about to commence their PhD or be in their first
year.

The Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Memorial Foundation

Applications are invited for Research Scholarships in
Otorhinolaryngology or the related fields of biomedical science to
commence in 2008; individuals who are either medically qualified or
science graduates, and who are, or will be, enrolled for a higher
university degree are eligible to apply; stipend offered will be at the
NH&MRC Medical/Dental Scholarship rate for medical graduates (currently
$29,172 pa) or the Biomedical (non MBBS) Scholarship rate for science
graduates (currently $19,616 pa); up to 3 years.

GlaxoSmithKline Australia Postgraduate Support Grant

Six grants up to $15,000 pa for 2 years are available for PhD students
or Post Doctorate researchers in the field of human health; these awards
are designed to provide further financial support to PhD students or
Post Doctorate researchers who are already in receipt of a research
grant from a non commercial body.

Other Scholarships

 

APAC Conference & Exhibition Student Forum Sponsorship

For postgraduate students working in the fields of advanced computing,
grid applications or eResearch; the Forum provides an opportunity for
postgraduate students working in these fields to present and discuss
their research; around 16 students will be sponsored to attend APAC07
and make a presentation at the Forum; sponsorship covers the costs of
travel, accommodation, registration fees and associated meals.
