Hello students (past and present),

I expect that this will only be of interest to portion of you, but I wanted to let you know that the US Department of Energy’s annual lighting workshop will be online and free this year. I’ve attended a number of times and have always found it to be really worthwhile. It’s one of the few conferences with a forward-looking focus on lighting technology. If that sounds cool to you, check it out.

The downside: it will be held in the middle of our night (based on when many of you have submitted assignments, this may not be a major problem).

Hope you’re all well,

WENDY DAVIS | Associate Professor in Lighting

Now more than ever, partnerships power innovation

Registration has opened for the 2021 Lighting R&D Workshop<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/lMTQC81V0PTMqVLYTMsn_J?domain=lnks.gd>, a virtual and free event co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Illuminating Engineering Society. This year we are committed to retaining all the features that attendees have come to expect from the in-person workshop: opportunities to hear from and interact with top lighting scientists and industry thought leaders and to provide input on future research needs. Partnerships established and renewed at this event have powered innovation in the lighting industry for nearly two decades.

This year’s virtual Lighting R&D Workshop features:

  * Interactive expert panel discussions that dissect complex science and technology issues.
  * Topic table sessions that seek inputs to inform future research planning.
  * A dynamic poster session that showcases top research and provides an opportunity for real-time Q&A.
  * Networking opportunities that enable attendees to chat more informally.
