<p class="">Dear all,</p>
<p class="">We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract to our session GMPV7.2 (co-roganized by GD2) at the EGU General Assembly 2026, entitled<span class="co_mto_programme-session-block-number-number"> '</span><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 114, 188); font-weight: 700; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">Fluctuations
of magmatic activity in hotspots and large igneous provinces, origins, temporality, and consequences on biogeography</span><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 114, 188);" class="">'</span>:</p>

<p class="">The aim of this interdisciplinary session is to explore how <span style="caret-color: rgba(50, 50, 50, 0.9); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">mantle dynamics (e.g., plume pulsations, hotspots, plume–ridge interaction, and lithospheric
architecture) </span>drive temporal patterns in magmatism, and how these patterns translate into changes at Earth’s surface, climate, and biota.</p>
<p data-start="1260" data-end="1292" class="">We welcome contributions that:</p>
<ul data-start="1293" data-end="1791" class="">
<li data-start="1293" data-end="1364" class="">
<p data-start="1295" data-end="1364" class="">integrate numerical modeling of mantle dynamics and melt transport,</p>
</li><li data-start="1365" data-end="1458" class="">
<p data-start="1367" data-end="1458" class="">present case studies of hotspot tracks, continental and oceanic LIPs, and rifted margins,</p>
</li><li data-start="1459" data-end="1560" class="">
<p data-start="1461" data-end="1560" class="">provide new geochronological, stratigraphic, petrological, geochemical, or isotopic insights on mantle processes, and/or</p>
</li><li data-start="1561" data-end="1791" class="">
<p data-start="1563" data-end="1791" class="">link magmatic pulsations to environmental and biogeographic change, including climatic perturbations, nutrient fluxes, habitat creation and fragmentation, island and seamount corridor dynamics, and macroevolutionary
turnovers.</p>
</li></ul>
<p class="">We hope you will join us for a stimulating session that bridges the solid Earth and life sciences to explore the tempo of deep Earth processes and their influence on our planet’s surface systems.</p>
<p class="">EGU will be held in Vienna, <b class="">3-8 May 2026</b>, and the abstract deadline is <b class="">January 15th (13:00 CET)</b>.</p>
