<p class="MsoNormal">The publishing landscape is changing quite rapidly. We recognise that the Australian astronomical community would like a community-based avenue to publish high impact and time critical results quickly, such as observations of transient
sources or multi-messenger events. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The PASA editors and I are happy to announce the start of PASA Letters. See the details below. PASA Letters should be submitted in the usual way (we strongly recommend using Overleaf), and will be an article type available as an option
in the normal submission process. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This is a soft launch in that we are opening up PASA Letters for submissions. We will strive to turnaround these Letters quickly, but the success of PASA Letters will largely rest on the ability to obtain expert reviews from the community
in a timely fashion. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">PASA Letters are for the rapid publication of high impact original research that merits a quick turnaround. Manuscripts submitted for publication in PASA Letters should be prepared in the usual way (we recommend the Overleaf template) and
meet the usual criteria for articles published in PASA. In addition the work reported is expected to be timely, and have high significance or influence on the development of other research in the area. Letters should be self-contained and are limited to 5
pages, but can have supporting appendices. At the discretion of the Editor in Chief, in exceptional circumstances, PASA Letters will accept longer submissions. Letters are processed on a fast track, a referee’s report is expected in about 14 days, and authors
are expected to respond in a similar time. Authors are required to state their reason for seeking publication in the form of a Letter in their cover letter. If in doubt please contact the Editor in Chief prior to submission.<o:p></o:p></p>
