<div dir="ltr"><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div><br></div><div>A PhD scholarship is available at Curtin University, for a project that may be interesting to completing undergraduate students at your institutions (not just in your physics/astronomy groups).</div><div><br></div><div>The project is offered by the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI; part of the Faculty of Humanities) in conjunction with the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA; part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering).<br></div><div><br></div><div><font size="2">The project, "</font><font size="2"><span style="font-weight:normal">What is excellent Astronomy? Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (a combined data set of over 100
million research outputs and millions of researchers) alongside the
unique data available to the astronomy community through the
Astrophysics Data System. It will combine ethnographic examination of
astronomy researchers and research with large scale textual analysis and
data science to develop new tools that dig beyond counting of citations
to consider how researchers and their institutions contribute, and how
this differs across different disciplines.</div><div><br></div><div>Questions and enquiries can go to Professor Cameron Neylon at <a href="mailto:cameron.neylon@curtin.edu.au">cameron.neylon@curtin.edu.au</a></div><div><br></div><div>Regards,</div><div>Steven<br></div><div><br>-- <br><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr">* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *<br>Professor Steven Tingay<br></div><div>John Curtin Distinguished Professor<br></div><div dir="ltr"><br>Executive Director<br>Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy<br>Curtin University<br>Bentley, Western Australia<br>Australia<br><br></div><div>Deputy Executive Director<br></div><div>International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research<br></div><div dir="ltr"><br>Street address:<br>Brodie Hall building<br>1 Turner Ave<br>Technology Park<br>Bentley 6102<br>Western Australia<br><br>Email: <a href="mailto:s.tingay@curtin.edu.au" target="_blank">S.Tingay@curtin.edu.au</a><br></div><div> <a href="mailto:Steven.Tingay@icrar.org" target="_blank">Steven.Tingay@icrar.org</a><br></div><div dir="ltr"><br>WWW: <a href="https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/i_5jCK1DvKTEVmo5iv3XkB?domain=astronomy.curtin.edu.au" target="_blank">http://astronomy.curtin.edu.au</a><br></div><div> <a href="https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/EUAOCL7EwMfj64WnSPBhrr?domain=icrar.org" target="_blank">http://www.icrar.org</a><br></div><div dir="ltr"><br>Phone: +61 (0)8 9266 4908<br><br>Mobile: +61 (0)401 103635<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>
