Forrest Research Foundation Scholarships

The closing date for the Forrest Foundation PhD Scholarships has been extended to 31 March 2015.

The Forrest Research Foundation of The University of Western Australia was established in 2014 following the donation of $65 million, over 10 years, by Andrew and Nicola Forrest, through the Minderoo Foundation as Trustee of the Forrest Family Foundation. Their donation is to assist Western Australia in becoming a world-class centre of research and innovation through attracting the next generation of outstanding intellects to this State, to pursue either doctoral studies or a postdoctoral fellowship.

Applications are now open for Forrest Research Foundation Scholarships to attract the best domestic and international students to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at a Western Australian university as part of a package valued at over AUD$45,000 per annum for up to four years. This includes an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) valued at $25,849 in 2015; a Forrest Research Foundation Scholarship valued at over $19,000 in 2015; and a research travel allowance of $13,000. International students will also receive and International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) to cover the cost of tuition fees and health cover.

More information and the application forms can be found at the Forrest Research Foundation website <http://www.forrestfoundation.org.au/applicants/scholarships>. Please note that these scholarships are available for commencing PhD students only. Forrest Scholars may undertake up to 8 hours per week tutoring undergraduate students at St. Georges College. Applicants will separately need to apply for a scholarship at a WA University. For UWA, see the UWA Scholarships database <http://www.scholarships.uwa.edu.au/search?sc_view=1&id=4781&page=1&ApplicationStatus=-1&Faculty=-1&StudyLevel=-1&Nationality=-1&StudyArea=-1&q=forrest>.
