Dear ASA members,

The Women in Astronomy Chapter (http://asawomeninastronomy.org/) was
established by the ASA Council in November 2009. The goals of the
Chapter are to raise the profile of women in Australian astronomy,
collect statistics on the status of women in astronomy, provide
information, liaise with other international bodies representing the
status of women in astronomy, and organise women in astronomy meetings.
All ASA members are welcome to join the Chapter by registering at
http://asawomeninastronomy.org/registration/

Nominations are now open for 3 general members, one student member,
and Chair of the Steering Committee of the Women in Astronomy Chapter.
If you would be interested in serving in one of these roles and are
registered as a Chapter member, please e-mail me with the position you
wish to nominate for by 5pm AEDT on Friday 6 February. Men and women
from any institution in Australia or elsewhere who are current ASA
members are encouraged to nominate. If there are more nominees than
positions available then an on-line ballot of chapter members will be
run. The current membership of the Steering Committee is at
http://asawomeninastronomy.org/steering-committee/

On behalf of the Chapter I would like to extend my thanks to retiring
Steering Committee members Virginia Kilborn, Sarah Brough, Stuart Ryder,
Jane Kaczmarek, and particularly to Lisa Harvey-Smith for their
contributions which helped make 2014 such an outstanding year for the
Women in Astronomy Chapter.

Cheers,

Stuart Ryder
WiA Chapter Secretary
