>From 19th to 21st of May, Australia's first Pint of Science festival will
host science events at three Sydney pubs, joining global colleagues in the
UK, USA, France, and Switzerland to present science in the pub.

The format is simple: down-to-earth talks by scientists in the most relaxed
setting possible - the pub! The festival aims to showcase the best of local
research to the general public. That means you can expect events that are
free of jargon, but full of fun!

The Pint of Science Outreach Festival will be examining three themes:

1. Atoms to Galaxies at The Royal, Darlington
- Stephen Bartlett "From Majorana particles towards quantum computing"
- Kevin Varvell "The hunt for the Higgs boson"
- Krzysztof Bolejko "How did the Universe start?"
- Tara Murphy "The search for other solar systems"
- Maria Cunningham "Is life in the Universe possible?"
- Stuart Thickett "Pulling Water Out of Thin Air"
- Tom Cresswell "Throw Another Prawn on the Barbie...But Check its
Hepatopancreas First!"
- Adam Micolich "Painting Without Brushes: The Physics of Jackson Pollock"

2. Matters of Mind at Harlequin Inn, Pyrmont
- Vaughan Macefield "The brain and emotions"
- Dev Banerjee "Sex, violence & driving - all in your sleep!"
- Lezanne Ooi "Stem cells & AD"
- Michael Valenzuela "Cognitive functioning & ageing"
- Nicolas Glozier "Stress - a modern epidemic"
- Bridianne O'Dea "To friend or not to friend...the power of our online
(and offline) social networks for mental health"

3. Our Body at Yulli's, Surrey Hills
