ASA 2014 FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

Registration and abstract submission are now open for the 2014 Astronomical Society of Australia’s Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), to be held from Sunday 20th til Friday 25th of July. The meeting will be hosted by the Macquarie Research Centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrophotonics (MQAAAstro) http://physics.mq.edu.au/astronomy/ at Macquarie University in Sydney, NSW.

The 2014 ASM will feature a full scientific program including a special half-day session on the Decadal Plan. Career and community sessions will be held but there is also an excellent program of additional activities planned involving our planetarium, observatory, holograms and a special art-gallery exhibition entitled “Fields of Vision: Art and Astronomy”.

As usual there will be meetings of the various chapters of the ASA including, ANITA, EPOC and Women in Astronomy (WiA). Relevant details, including the list of invited speakers, will be posted on the ASM website in due course.

HARLEY WOOD WINTER SCHOOL

The Harley Wood Winter School will be held immediately prior to the ASM from July 17th to 20th in the lovely Collaroy beach suburb of northern Sydney so bring a wet-suit and surf-board.

The theme for this year's Harley Wood Winter School is “Bridging the Gaps: Integrating astronomy for the future“.
