The next deadline is *** Saturday, 1 February 2014, at 23:59 *** (Australian Eastern Daylight Time, i.e. UTC + 11 hrs) Applications are welcomed from all astronomers, worldwide. The following instruments are available for service observations: 2dF+AAOmega, IRIS2, UCLES/UHRF, KOALA/SPIRAL+AAOmega. NOTE: It is expected that KOALA will be used for all SPIRAL proposals as it is superior in most regards. As final charachterisation of this new facility has not been completed, please continue to use the SPIRAL application form. Questions regarding KOALA's characteristics should be adressed to Andy Green, andrew.green at aao.gov.au Service Programmes expire after 18 months. Current programmes submitted before 1 August 2012 will be purged from the queue. If you have an existing programme in this category, you are invited to resubmit this round. The meeting will be held March 18-19, 2014, at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. There is a website with more details, and travel and logistical information: http://sites.google.com/site/gmacsworkshop2014/ If you are interested, please register at the website. The goal of the meeting is to discuss various technical capabilities for GMACS (wavelength coverage, field-of-view, resolution, etc) and the science cases that would benefit from these capabilities. The meeting will include few talks, with discussion time. Over the next month, we will be circulating materials to the workshop participants to go over in advance of the meeting. Feel free to circulate this announcement to anyone at your institution you think may be interested. If you have questions, please direct them to Casey Papovich (papovich at tamu.edu). Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in College Station, Texas. Casey ???????????????? The Workshop will be immediately followed by N-body Summer School from the 19th to 21st of February 2014. For details and registration information please go to the workshop website: http://anita.edu.au/workshop2014/ Note that there is no registration fee and registration will close on the 7th February 2014. A meeting dinner, at additional cost (~$30 per head), will be held at a local restaurant on Monday 17th February. The meeting is open to everyone, you do not need to be a member of ANITA or the ASA to attend (though we encourage you to join!), and we especially invite students to attend and contribute talks. Approximately 15-20 minutes will be allocated for each oral presentation. The 2014 workshop will also include a session promoting access to national computing resources and a special session on ?Theory in the Decadal Plan?. There will be no formal proceedings, but contributions will be available on the web after the workshop. The N-body Summer School is limited by available space, and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served-basis. A limited number of travel grants to assist in the attendance of students will be available. Students can indicate their interest in applying for a grant when registering and information on how to apply will be sent out by email in January. Looking forward to seeing you in Sydney! The SOC (Geraint Lewis, Chris Power, Orsola De Marco, Krzysztof Bolejko and Weiguang Cui) and the ANITA steering committee (Jarrod Hurley, Darren Croton, Sarah Maddison, Orsola De Marco, Chris Power, Alan Duffy, Cathryn Trott & Camila Correa). ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
